The best yogurt I’ve ever eaten

Now THAT'S yogurt

Yesterday I bought yogurt from Dorian West, co-owner of the Hillsborough Cheese Co.  We’ve been buying cheese from Dorian and Cindy for years now, but yesterday was the first time he ever offered me yogurt.

This morning I had a small serving.

Wow.  That’s really the best description of it.

I never knew yogurt could be this good.  Thick, creamy, tangy.  Unbelieveable, really.

Buy some at the Western Wake Farmer’s Market. And get there early, cause you’re gonna have to beat me there for it.

Which coffee goes best with great yogurt?

Agghhh! Don’t tell everyone about their yogurt…we have a hard enough time getting enough of it from Dorian for ourselves!

But seriously, it’s great stuff, and it will change your ideas about what real yogurt is (hint…it ain’t HCFS-laden ‘Yoplait’). For snack purposes, we typically add a little bit of raw honey (from East Wake Apiaries at Western Wake, of course) to balance out the tartness. It also makes fabulous pancakes, by blending/soaking the flour in it overnight, similar to a more ‘traditional’ preperation of buttermilk pancakes…this and other similar recipes can be found in ‘Nourishing Traditions’ by Sally Fallon, available at Wake County Libraries or Amazon.com.

I guess I’ll need to start getting to the Western Wake Market reeeeal early now…

Thanks for the vote of confidence in our yogurt! I love to mix it with homemade strawberry preserves and add a little granola for a great breakfast.
