Where it all went wrong for French food
I’ve been a world traveler for about 25 years now, and without adding up passport stamps, I can say that I’ve been to France more than any other single destination. Probably 30 trips in the past 10 years, alone.
And I’ve been saying, especially the past 5 years, that the food in France has gone to hell. Used to be that you couldn’t buy a bad meal in France, just couldn’t find one. Now, you have to look for a good one. You don’t have to look as hard as you do in the USA, but bad food there is now the norm, not the exception. People who have heard me say this, and haven’t been to France, or haven’t been there in a while, think I’m crazy.
But it turns out maybe I’m not so crazy. There’s a book published in 2009, Au Revior To All That, that makes my point exactly. I’ll be buying the eReader version.
